Red Carpet Manicure “Draped In Rubies”

“Draped In Rubies” is one of the newest colours from Red Carpet Manicure:

2013-02-012This is a gorgeous deep red with lots of sparkle.  As always, with Red Carpet Manicure gel polishes, the finish is amazingly glossy and extremely durable.  I’m not usually a fan of red polish which makes me very hard to please and “Draped In Rubies” does just that.  I really love this shade, it’s just perfect.   The light here has been terrible as it’s been overcast and raining all day, so it was difficult to capture the true beauty of this colour.  I hope I have done it justice.

The thing I love most about Red Carpet Manicure gel polishes is that I can get straight on with the rest of my day of cooking and washing up etc and still have stunning nails at the same time.

I would definitely recommend this colour to anyone who uses gel polishes.  It has a sparkle and depth that would rival any polish on the market today 😀

Nails Inc “Phillimore Gardens” & Barry M “Rose Quartz Glitter”

I don’t know where to begin with today’s post.  Never before has a nail polish inspired me so much – to take it off my nails as soon as possible and throw the bottle in the bin!  I really hate this polish so much.

The culprit?  “Phillimore Gardens” by Nails Inc

2013-02-010It might look nice and innocent but would you believe this is three coats and it’s still possible to see my nails!   I simply refused to apply a fourth coat of this polish and decided to try and cover it with “Rose Quartz Glitter” from Barry M.

2013-02-011 Rose Quartz is from the new range of jewel glitter topcoats by Barry M.  It has a clear base which is infused with pink and holographic particles of varying size and shape.  These holographic particles made it impossible to capture the true colour of this top coat with my camera.  It is much more pink in reality.  I really like Rose Quartz and it has made Phillimore Gardens almost acceptable.

Overall, I’m shocked at the low quality of this polish from Nails Inc. I know it’s supposed to be a bit sheer but not to the extent this is!  I’ve had to apply so many layers that it’s not going to be very durable. I will definitely be sticking to my RCM “Camera Shy” when I want a pale/nude polish in the future. Now excuse me while I reach for my polish remover! 😉

Leighton Denny “Guilt Free”

Today’s polish is another winner from Leighton Denny, this is “Guilt Free”

2013-02-009As you can see, it’s a beautifully glossy teal with just the right amount of shimmer.  The formula of this polish is perfect.  Here, I’ve applied two thin coats along with Leighton Denny’s Undercover base and Crystal Finish top coat.

The colour is very similar to “Metamorphosis” by Color Club, which is one of my favourite colours ever!  However, “Guilt Free” is slightly darker but just as stunning…don’t you agree? 🙂

Nails Inc “Providence Crescent” and “Newburgh Street” graffiti

I’ve used two of my favourite polishes together today to create a look that I really like.

This is Nails Inc “Providence Crescent”

2013-02-007Providence Crescent is a  beautifully dark, rich chocolate brown.  This is two coats along with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar base and top coats.  The formula of this polish is just perfect.  It covered perfectly with one coat but I added another anyway.

Then I added “Newburgh Street” by Nails Inc from their Graffiti range:

2013-02-008This graffiti top coat looks like a mixture of gold and copper gilding flakes in a clear base and I really love it!  The two polishes are amazing together and I think “Newburgh Street” is versatile enough to be used to create many other stunning looks.  I know I will be using this one again very soon 😀

Leighton Denny “Razzmatazz”

I have a week off work and so will endeavour to catch up with the backlog of polishes waiting to be reviewed.

Here’s the first… “Razzmataz” from Leighton Denny

2013-02-006This is a purple glitter with the most amazingly bright red specks running through it.  It did take three coats to get the coverage I would normally expect from this type of polish but the drying time was extremely fast so it didn’t try my patience too much lol.  The finish was disappointingly dull before I added a generous amount of Leighton Denny Crystal Finish top coat (I also used Leighton Denny Undercover base coat).  I can’t believe how smooth this polish is for one with such a glittery appearance.

Overrall, it’s a good polish and I absolutely love the vibrancy of the red against the dark purple but I still prefer Butter London’s “Lovely Jubbly” 😀

Red Carpet Manicure “Camera Shy” & “White Hot”

Red Carpet Manicure sell some really good value kits including one for doing French Manicures.  The kit includes three RCM polishes.  Here I’ve used “Camera Shy” and “White Hot”.

2013-01-026I’ve added some gems and a decal.  I love the softness of this look but I thought it would be a good idea to add OPI “Pirouette my whistle”.

2013-01-027This looks amazing in real life.  Unfortunately, it took me ages to capture this on camera as the light is so bad here today.  I think it was worth all the effort though.

This is such a change from my usual bold, bright nail polishes but I really like it.  I think it would be just perfect for a wedding or everyday if you didn’t add the gems.

Red Carpet Manicure “Midnight Affair”

I was so impressed with my Red Carpet Manicure Gel starter kit that I just had to try another colour.

This is “Midnight Affair”

2013-01-017This photo was taken two days after application.

I’ve been looking for a perfect deep, dark blue for ages.  The problem with normal polishes of this colour is that they tend to stain your nails/fingers terribly when you try to remove them – this does not happen with gel polishes

I really am a convert to gel polishes now thanks to Red Carpet Manicure.  I can’t believe how easy they are to apply and remove.  My first attempt with the kit lasted 10 days before I simply got bored of the colour.  I intend to try a top coat over “Midnight Affair” in a few days so I shouldn’t get bored as quickly 😀

update – 21/1/13

Here’s Midnight Affair with Nails Inc “Burlington Arcade” over the top.

20130121_143713This is a stunning combination of polishes that were just made for each other 😀

Red Carpet Manicure Gel Starter Kit

Recently I was faced with a life changing dilemma.  Friends and followers of this blog will probably have guessed by now that I absolutely love my nail polish and like to change my colours to suit my mood/wardrobe.  Before Christmas I started a new job, one that I really love but the problem was my nail polish addiction and blog began to get very neglected.
I decided that drastic measures needed to be taken in order to resume a normal yin/yang balance in my tiny universe 😉 …..and this is it ….the Red Carpet Manicure Gel Starter Kit!

recm0068f_1_mNow, I have to be honest here and admit that I didn’t really expect this kit to be any good but I really needed some nail colour that would face the challenge of drying extremely fast and being almost bullet proof.

The Red Carpet Gel Kit provides everything you need to do your own professional gel manicure at home at a fraction of the price.  I followed the instuctions to the letter and was happily surprised with the result.  This is my nails three days after my first attempt with the kit.  This colour is called “Red Carpet Reddy”.

2013-01-008The thing that impresses me the most about this system (apart from the ease of application) is the amazing glossy shine of the polish.  There is a slight wear to the tips of my nails but to be frank I have really tested this beyond the limits of any polish out there and I’m surprised there’s anything left worth taking a photo of on my nails lol.

In conclusion, I have found the answer to my dilemma.  I love this kit and would recommend it to all – just make sure you read the instructions carefully before applying.   Also, don’t over do the buffing and make sure you apply cuticle oil regularly and you should have no problems.

My new dilemma?  What colours to buy next! 😀

Nails Inc “Elystan Street”

First of all, I need to apologize for my month absence from Blogland.  This has been due to working lots of hours and not having much time left to paint my nails.  That and the poor light conditions has made it almost impossible to keep up with all the amazing polishes I have ready to review.

Anyway, here’s the first of many that I hope to catch up with over the next few weeks.

This is “Elystan Street” from Nails Inc.

2012-12-020This is a gorgeous full coverage red and silver glitter.  Here I’ve used two thin coats along with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar base and top coats.  Drying time with this polish was extremely fast.  Elystan Street is exclusive to QVC UK where it is available to buy as a set of 7 polishes for a ridiculously low price (item 202810)

Leighton Denny “Femme Fatale”

“Femme Fatale” is another polish from my much loved Dramatic Collection by Leighton Denny.

Described on Leighton’s Signature Site as “a rich, mossy eye-catching green, infused with the rich jewel tones – its decadent, ravishing and drop-dead gorgeous.”

Here I’ve applied two thin coats of the colour along with Leighton Denny’s Undercover base coat and Crystal Finish top coat.

This was another colour that I just had to have as soon as I saw it and it does not disappoint.  The finish is extremely glossy.   To me, this is the most perfect shade of green ever!  Add to that the amazing Leighton Denny formula and this is probably one of my favourite polishes of the year.
